Richard Whitelegg

I have always been a keen outdoor enthusiast with experience in skiing, snowboarding, climbing, surfing, trail running and hiking. Achievements include summiting volcanoes and completing high altitude, long distance treks in Europe and Central America. My journey in CrossFit began in 2008 while studying at University. After training at CrossFit 3D and CrossFit Plymouth for 3 years, I passed my Level 1 Trainers course in November 2011.

CrossFit for me is a process of constant refinement and practice. As such, I am always trying to increase my experience, knowledge and ability in CrossFit as a trainer and an athlete.

Throughout my life I have considered multiple careers that I feel make a difference to people’s lives. In CrossFit I believe I have found my best opportunity with which to positively impact people’s lives on a day to day basis.

I enjoy coaching all aspects of CrossFit from group classes to 1 to 1’s. Due to my sporting background and personal interests I have found a particular niche in coaching gymnastics and other bodyweight movements.

Matthew Thompson

I’ve always played competitive sports for as long as I can remember. Excelling in both rugby and cricket, I played both sports to representative level throughout my teenage years, before an ACL tear curtailed my rugby playing career at the age of 21.

My exposure to CrossFit began whilst serving in the Royal Navy during the summer of 2013, watching videos on YouTube and trying to replicate the movements in a generic gym environment. from that moment on, I was hooked. After Training CrossFit exclusively for just over a year, In December 2014 I successfully completed my CrossFit Level 1 trainer course.

I have a passion for both CrossFit and unlocking a person’s athletic potential and feel CrossFit is a perfect training methodology for doing just that, Coaching to me  is something that transcends standing up in front of a class and talking through a workout. It is about making people realise they’re capable of doing things they never thought possible.

I’ve fount I have a particular skill set and talent for teaching Weightlifting, and find the constant refinement of  technique within this discipline to be very rewarding.

Aimee O’Keeffe

Since a young age I have been a ‘sporty’ kid, team sports being my favourite. I had a talent and passion for football and represented Everton at a national level as a teen, and am currently on the books at Wigan Athletic FC.

I moved into the Personal Training field post university and I found a love for coaching and making people better, but being a ‘PT’ wasn’t enough, I wanted to explore more into the coaching world and gain as much knowledge as I can, so I often attend seminars, courses, and shadow other professionals.

As for CrossFit, my exposure to the sport began only 2 years ago, within 6 weeks of trying my first ‘WOD’ I had passed my Level 1 course. The learning started right there, and I knew it wasn’t going to stop!

I have a passion for helping drive people to be the best version of themselves on a day to day basis. I live by that phrase and find that coaching helps me transfer that message to others and help make it a reality.

If I was to choose an area of CrossFit I feel most comfortable in coaching in it would be Olympic Weightlifting, having an eye for detail and seeing how one small change can make a lift look effortless is most rewarding.
